Project Overview.
Project Title: Clafen®.
Client: Antibiotice Iași.
Project Date: May 2023.
Project Type: Web design & development.
Project Goals: Ensuring a seamless user journey from start to finish.
Introduction.
Antibiotice is one of the most important Romanian manufacturers of generic drugs that continue to support, help and treat generations of people. From penicillin produced in 1955 to today, the company has been with every generation in maintaining and restoring health. Antibiotice develops and manufactures generic drugs for a wide range of pathologies, all driven by patient care, safety and health. Since 1957 they have been manufacturing medicines for the local treatment of muscle and osteoarticular pain.
The Challenge.
Our challenge was to design an intuitive website that effectively highlights the product’s benefits while also educating patients about muscle pain and its symptoms. We aimed to ensure the website was easy to navigate for all users, featuring clear, readable text and straightforward information access. Simultaneously, the site needed to be modern, colorful, and dynamic.
Solution.
Global Sections: We created global widgets and sections that can be easily managed and modified in a few seconds.
Dynamic Tooltips Section: A section that offers interactive guidance to localized pain, with dynamic tooltips that offer insights and assistance precisely when you need them.
Responsive Design: Whether browsing on a desktop, tablet, or smartphone, the website adapts effortlessly to provide an optimal viewing experience across all devices.
Dynamic Content Sections: A website which ensures that users stay informed and engaged with content that evolves based on availability, guaranteeing access to the latest information at all times.
Enhanced User Experience: Navigation designed to be easy and efficient, featuring an intuitive design and seamless functionality carefully engineered to prioritize user convenience.
SEO-Ready: Discoverability is a priority, so we focused on a website primed for success with robust SEO strategies in place, ensuring it reaches those who need it most.
Custom Search Bar and Logic: Custom-designed search functionality that ensures users can find what they need precisely when they need it, delivering accurate results every time.
Process and stages.
1. Market Research.
We began by conducting thorough market research to understand the target audience, their needs, preferences, and the competitive landscape. This stage involved analyzing user demographics, behavior patterns, and gathering insights from similar websites in the pharmaceutical sector, together with their product team.
We held creative workshops to brainstorm and align on the website’s vision. These sessions focused on identifying key functionalities, design preferences, and content requirements, ensuring the website would resonate with the target audience.
2. Digital Solution Research.
We explored various digital solutions to determine the best technologies and platforms for building the website. Our goal was to ensure the website would be scalable, secure, and capable of delivering a seamless user experience.
3. Wireframing.
In this stage, we created wireframes to map out the website’s structure and layout. This involved designing intuitive navigation paths, ensuring easy access to information, and placing emphasis on legible text for older users. The wireframes served as a blueprint for the website’s overall design and functionality.
4. UX/UI Design.
Our design team focused on creating a user-friendly interface that was both visually appealing and functional. We chose a modern and colorful design palette to make the website vibrant while ensuring that text sizes and button placements were optimized for readability and ease of use. Special attention was given to accessibility features to accommodate all types of users.
5. Web Development.
Utilizing a custom builder (choice made after the discovery stage, where the customer needed a custom, autonomus and easy to manage solution), our development team brought the designs to life. We implemented a robust content management system (CMS) to allow Antibiotice to easily update and manage content. The development process also included integrating essential features such as search functionality, responsive design for mobile compatibility, and secure data handling.
Live Migration and QA Testing.
After development, we migrated the site to a live server environment. Comprehensive QA testing was conducted to ensure the website was free of bugs and performed optimally across various devices and browsers. This phase included usability testing with a focus group of older users to validate ease of navigation and readability.
Execution Timeline.
Week 1-2: Market Research & Creative Workshops.
Week 3-4: Digital Solution Research & Wireframing.
Week 5-8: UX/UI Design.
Week 8-12: Web Development, Live Migration, and QA Testing.
Results.
We created a simplified and easy-to-navigate website, with large and visible elements, vivid colors that fully respect the visual identity of the product, but also an airy appearance, which guarantees a comfortable experience for users.
At the same time, our success was that of being able to address through the design and functionalities of this website a very varied target audience, from different age groups, keeping an up-to-date layout that highlights the essential information.
Challenges and Learnings.
A great challenge of this project was the healthcare regulations. We needed to adapt and adjust both the design and functionality based on the feedback received from the national authorities. Ensuring compliance with these stringent regulations while maintaining an engaging and user-friendly design required close collaboration with legal experts and regular consultations with regulatory bodies.
We learned that we need to take into account more detailed and specific regulatory requirements in the planning stages to avoid significant redesigns and functionality adjustments later in the project. Early integration of regulatory feedback and continuous communication with authorities are crucial to streamline the approval process and minimize delays.
Our conclusion.
The project was successfully completed within the timeframe. The new website for Antibiotice is a testament to our commitment to quality and user-centric design. It is intuitive, easy to navigate, and accessible to all users. The modern, colorful, and dynamic interface not only enhances user experience but also effectively communicates the brand’s long-standing commitment to supporting patient health. By seamlessly blending functionality with aesthetics, we have provided Antibiotice with a powerful digital platform that strengthens their online presence and facilitates better engagement with their audience.
