As you may already know, we like to get in touch with artists that express their creativity through their work. So, we come back to you with another interview. Hope you will enjoy it!
Subsign: Before we get things rolling, let’s get acquainted. Tell us a few things about yourself.
Razvan: Well, my name is Razvan Vezeteu and I am a 27 years old Freelance Visual Designer and I specialize in Illustration Design and Icon Design. I love video games, comics, movies and so on…basically, I never grew up :).
Subsign: What was your childhood like? Do you think your experiences from childhood have influenced your present creative endeavors?
Razvan: I had an awesome childhood, I did everything from climbing trees to stepping on rusty nails a cracking my skull open twice. As a kid I always tried to make people laugh, and I still do that. The first reaction I want people to have when they see my work is a giggle.
Subsign: How would you describe your work style?
Razvan: I guess I could describe my work in two words, and those are playful and colorful. They kind of go hand in hand.
Subsign: Can you share with us how your creative process works?
Razvan: That depends. If it is personal work, then I just dive right into Illustrator and have at thee. I usually do this because it helps me with my decision making and it so much fun to just go in and let my heart take over.
Razvan: If it is client work, then I usually spend some time sketching, looking up references, go through some old ideas for inspiration and then finally I start putting everything in a digital format.
Subsign: How does your workstation look like?
Subsign: What is your favorite work you have done so far?
Razvan: I can’t really say I have a favorite but one of the ones I like the most is my first day out of my 365 challenge, which is an illustration of my first car.
Subsign: Who do you admire as a visionary?
Razvan: Lienke Raben – her work is just bonkers.
Subsign: What advice could you give to someone starting out in the creative field of work?
Razvan: Don’t give up and always practice, practice, practice. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes, you’ll learn better from them than from your success.
Subsign: If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
Razvan:Play drums!
Subsign: Can you recommend for our readers a book, a song and a movie?
Razvan: Sure thing:
The song I would like to recommend Highly Suspect – My Name Is Human(for some reason this song is stuck on replay for me right now)
The book I would like to recommend is Know your Onions: Graphic Designby Drew De Soto. It helped me a lot when I started.
The movie I would like to recommend is Snatch (the 2000 movie). It holds up really well compared to some of the movies made today.
Subsign: If you could throw any kind of party, what would it be like and what would it be for?
Razvan: A 90s party! Because nobody parties like the 90s :).
Subsign: What did you wanted to be as a grown up?
Razvan: I wanted to be a detective.
