As you may already know, we like to get in touch with artists that express their creativity through their work. So, we come back to you with another interview. Hope you will enjoy it!<\/p>\n

Subsign: Before we get things rolling, let\u2019s get acquainted. Tell us a few things about yourself.<\/span><\/p>\n

Chow:<\/span>\u00a0My name is Chow Hon Lam. I\u2019m an artist from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.<\/p>\n

Subsign: What was your childhood like? Do you think your experiences from childhood have influenced your present creative endeavors?<\/span><\/p>\n

Chow:<\/span>\u00a0Yes, I read a lot of manga in my childhood, I like the variety of the story of manga. It influenced a lot to me, from storytelling to execution of my work now.<\/p>\n

\"Subsign<\/p>\n

Subsign: How would you describe your work style?<\/span><\/p>\n

Chow:<\/span>\u00a0Something cute and funny. The execution of my work is simple and with a clean line. I always try to come out some witty idea which can bring a smile to people face.<\/p>\n

\"Subsign<\/p>\n

Subsign: Can you share with us how your creative process works?<\/span><\/p>\n

Chow:<\/span>\u00a0The first step is idea, a quiet environment always giving me a lot of inspiration. After I got the idea, I will start search some reference from internet, the reference is important to me to make sure my work don\u2019t have mistake. The next step will be a rough sketch, my sketching usually not so detail, I prefer to put more time on the final art. I will finish the lineart and coloring with the rough sketch, all the step are done in Adobe Illustrator. Sometime I will use Photoshop if I need some texture effect.<\/p>\n

Subsign: How does your workstation look like?<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Subsign<\/p>\n

Subsign: What is your favorite work you have done so far?<\/span><\/p>\n

Chow:<\/span>\u00a0My favorite work is the t-shirt design I done for AirAsia last time, the design is based on their slogan \u201cNow Everyone Can Fly\u201d. Ostrich is a bird that cannot fly, with AirAsia, Ostrich also can fly now.\u00a0design link<\/a><\/p>\n

Subsign: Who do you admire as a visionary?<\/span><\/p>\n

Chow:<\/span>\u00a0A Korean artist,\u00a0Mr. Kim Jung Gi<\/em>. He can draw anything without sketching, and the outcome always impressed me.<\/p>\n

\"Subsign<\/p>\n

Subsign: What advice could you give to someone starting out in the creative field of work?<\/span><\/p>\n

Chow:<\/span>\u00a0Practice more, as much as you can. And don\u2019t be shy to post your work on internet. A critique from people always help us to improve.<\/p>\n

\"Subsign<\/p>\n

Subsign: If you could learn to do anything, what would it be?<\/span><\/p>\n

Chow:<\/span>\u00a0I will learn cooking, I like food, but I can\u2019t cook. It is a wonderful life if we can enjoy a nice food everyday.<\/p>\n

\"Subsign<\/p>\n

Subsign: Can you recommend for our readers a book, a song and a movie?<\/span><\/p>\n

Chow:<\/span>\u00a0A book called\u00a0\u201cWhatever You Think Think the Opposite\u201d<\/em>, by Paul Arden. This is a very good book for creative people.<\/p>\n

Subsign: If you could throw any kind of party, what would it be like and what would it be for?<\/span><\/p>\n

Chow:<\/span>\u00a0A party with all my favorite characters from manga, movie and comic. I\u2019m sure it will have inspired me a lot with this party.<\/p>\n

Subsign: What did you wanted to be as a grown up?<\/span><\/p>\n

Chow:<\/span>\u00a0An artist, I enjoy my job now \u263a.<\/p>\n
